Orion Cosce vs Gilbert Urbina
Gilbert Urbiana ML (+105)
Ultimate Fighter veteran Gilbert Urbina makes his sophomore effort with the UFC against Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Orion Cosce. The long and strong Gilbert Urbina will drop down to the 170 pound division after dropping his UFC debut in the TUF finale against Brian Battle. Cosce’s only upside in this spot is his wrestling, but Urbina has the better striking. Cosce may have early success with takedowns and ground control, but the longer the fight goes, the more it will favor Gilbert Urbina. I expect Urbina to turn up the pace in the second round, win minutes on the feet, and find advantageous positions on the ground later in the fight.
Viacheslav Borshchev vs Maheshate
Viacheslav Borshchev ML (-165)
Under 1.5 (+120)
Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Viacheslav “Slava Clause” Borshchev takes on Maheshate in Saturday night’s prelim headliner. “Slava Clause” claimed his UFC contract with a nasty left hook KO on Chris Duncan two years ago on Dana White’s Contender Series. He followed up his Contender Series KO with a body shot KO over Dakota Bush in his UFC debut. Following his hot entrance to the UFC, he would get wrestled to two unanimous decision losses, just to give us a -165 gimmes in this spot against a chinny striker in Maheshate. If Maheshate does grapple it will be because he’s been hurt on the feet, and after two wrestling losses and his UFC contract on the line, I guarantee Borshchev is getting back to his feet when Maheshate panics. Borschev will be levels above on the feet and stop Maheshate in the first two rounds.
