It’s an American League matchup as the Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox start a three game series tonight. The Mariners come into this having just won two of three games from the Detroit Tigers so they will be looking to keep things going strong and win another series. As for the Red Sox, they come in after being swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in disappointing form. It was a tough series for Boston but they now have a chance to bounce back and right the ship. We should be in for a good one between two playoff hopeful teams in the American League as the matchup unfolds.

What to Watch:
The Mariners will be looking to George Kirby to get them started in this matchup. He has had a good start to the season but they do need more from him if they want to really compete. Kirby has kept his ERA down this season despite some inconsistencies so if he can settle into a nice rhythm early on and keep the Fenway crowd at bay, it could be a good day for the Mariners.
The Red Sox will try and counter Kirby with their offense that has come on of late. It was a slow start for Boston to open the season but since, they have really showed out and climbed back into contention. They should look to stay patient at the plate and let the pitches come to them. If they can force Kirby to have a high pitch count, they could force the Mariners to go to the bullpen early on and that likely would bode well for the Red Sox.
