Philadelphia Eagles Game-By-Game 2023 Schedule Prediction

By

There is a new sense of stability in Philadelphia after signing Jalen Hurts to a long term contract. Nick Sirianni wants to prove that his team is here to stay by making another Super Bowl run. After the release of the 2023 NFL schedule, I predicted the result of each game for the Eagles.

Week 1 at New England Patriots: Win (1-0)

Mac Jones will be tested by one of the best defenses in the NFL week one. A new offensive coordinator versus the Super Bowl runner up is a recipe for disaster. Jalen Hurts will score at least four touchdowns and Jones’ Will be sacked multiple times in a 35-14 contest.

Week 2 vs Minnesota Vikings (Thursday Night Football): Win (2-0)

With questions surrounding the future of Dalvin Cook there will be more of a focus of getting Justin Jefferson involved early and often. If I know that, Nick Sirianni does as well so expect a lot of help overtop to limit Jefferson. Kirk Cousins will struggle against Philadelphia’s defense by forcing throws to keep up with Jalen Hurts.

Week 3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers ( Monday Night Football): Win (3-0)

Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask will not beat the Philadelphia Eagles in primetime. Marcus Mariota will likely see some playing time in a blowout against Tampa Bay.

Week 4 vs Washington Commanders: Win (4-0)

The Commanders beat the Eagles last year, so there will be an emphasis on getting this win for Philadelphia. The Commanders have one of the best defensive fronts in football and will have success against Hurts. This game will come down to the ability of Sam Howell to put up points against Philadelphia’s defense.

Week 5 at Los Angeles Rams: Win (5-0)

Von Miller, Jalen Ramsay, Leonard Floyd, and Odell Beckham Jr. are not in Los Angeles anymore. Besides Matt Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald the Rams have one of the worst rosters in football. Philadelphia will make more winning plays than Los Angeles in a one sided victory.

Week 6 at New York Jets: Loss (5-1)

Philadelphia’s winning streak comes to an end against the revamped New York Jets offense. Aaron Rodgers will be locked in and prove that the Jets are Super Bowl contenders. Rodgers will get the ball out quickly to eliminate the Eagles pass rushing success.

Week 7 vs Miami Dolphins (Sunday Night Football): Win (6-1)

The Eagles will have the opportunity to start another winning streak in Primetime against a playoff caliber opponent. Tua Tagovailoa will have to play lights out for Miami to stay in the game. Philadelphia will play motivated to prove last week wasn’t an indication of how their season is going to finish. I expect Jalen Hurts and D’Andre Swift to have big days rushing the football against the Dolphins.

Week 8 at Washington Commanders: Win (7-1)

Another week for Philadelphia to prove that they run the NFC North. Washington beat the Eagles once last season, so I expect them to take both games personal. Washington will attempt to control the clock and limit possession to make it a low scoring contest, but the Eagles will outlast them by a field goal.

Week 9 vs Dallas Cowboys: Win (8-1)

Divisional matchup against a hated rival promotes a heated, aggressive contest. The Cowboys focus needs to be protecting Dak Prescott against the Eagles pass rush. While Philadelphia needs to establish the run early and often.

Week 10: Bye

Week 11 at Kansas City Chiefs (Monday Night Football): Loss (8-2)

One of the biggest games of the season will be the Super Bowl rematch. Many believe the pass interference call late in the game was one of the worst calls in NFL history. Kansas City will look to continue to prove why they are one of the most accomplished franchises. Mahomes understands what opposing defenses want to do to stop their offense, so he will methodically move the ball down the field and put up points on nearly every possession.

Week 12 vs Buffalo Bills: Win (9-2)

The Bills struggled in the playoffs against the Bengals defense as Buffalo struggled to protect Josh Allen. I predict a similar situation week 12 in Philadelphia. When the Bills get down, Allen feels the need to make every play to keep his team in the game. He will throw two interceptions

Week 13 vs San Francisco 49ers: Loss (9-3)

San Francisco has this game marked on their calendar after losing the NFC Conference Championship last season. Brock Purdy and Trey Lance should both be healthy, so we will get the opportunity to see what would have happened if the 49ers had a healthy quarterback. This will be a close game, but Kyle Shanahan wants this win bad and will get it.

Week 14 at Dallas Cowboys: Win (10-3)

Philadelphia looks to take control of the NFC North division against the Cowboys. Dallas struggles in big games and this week will be no different. More like their week nine matchup, Philadelphia will control the line of scrimmage to give Hurts ample amount of time to find wide receivers.

Week 15 at Seattle Seahawks: Win (11-3)

In a late season contest, the Eagles will look to improve their record in a hunt for the number one seed. Seattle made improvements to their roster, but still need another year or two before they are true Super Bowl contenders. I expect the Eagles to build momentum with a win over a playoff team late in the season.

Week 16 vs New York Giants (Monday Night Football): Win (12-3)

This week will more than likely be the game Philadelphia can clinch their division and guarantee a top three seed in the playoffs. The Eagles showed how wide the gap is between them and the Giants after their 31 point playoff victory last season. Towards the end of the season is when Jalen Hurts and Philadelphia’s defense plays their best football.

Week 17 vs Arizona Cardinals: Win (13-3)

Philadelphia will be playing for playoff seeding, so they will want to win to earn home field advantage. Arizona has one of the worst rosters in the NFL and has no chance to beat the Eagles.

Week 18 at New York Giants: Win (14-3)

If Philadelphia can better position themselves in the playoffs with a win, I expect them to do just that. The Eagles are the better football with talented pieces throughout their roster.

Overall: 14-3

The Eagles should be favorites to win the NFC again as they are the top team with the best quarterback in the conference. They are playing a first-place schedule, so we will be able to find out if they are legit contenders this season. There are plenty of primetime matchups that should have playoff implications on their schedule.
