The New York Mets and Detroit Tigers open their three game series today with a double-header. In game one today, it’s a make up from what was supposed to be the game yesterday. New York had some of their games over the weekend moved due to weather issues. In those games, the Mets dropped two of three to the Atlanta Braves and fell down even farther in the NL East race. They need to start putting together consistent wins if they want to be competitive with Atlanta. As for the Tigers, they got swept in a four game series by the Baltimore Orioles prior to this meeting with New York. The season hasn’t gone to plan for them so far and they desperately need something to kick start their season into high gear.

What to Watch:

After losing two of three to the Braves over the weekend, the Mets should be looking at this series against Detroit as a must win. They can’t afford to keep losing games and fall even farther below Atlanta in the division race. Going up against the Tigers, New York should use their offense to get ahead. Detroit doesn’t have the greatest pitching so the Mets should be able to take control in that category.

Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor need to lead the way for New York as they try to help right the ship today.
