The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox continue their three game series today. In game one, the White Sox were able to grab the win by a score of 3-2 so they will be looking to claim the series win with another win here today. Prior to this series kicking off, Minnesota took three of four from the Kansas City Royals so they will be trying to get things back on track here today. As for the White Sox, this season has been a struggle thus far. They dropped three of four games to the Tampa Bay Rays in their prior series and see themselves falling down in the standings early on. Chicago needs some real momentum to salvage the slow start so maybe today could be that day.
Date: Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023
Time: 7:10 p.m. EST
Location: Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois
Team Records: Minnesota Twins (17-13), Chicago White Sox (9-21)
Projected Starting Pitchers:
Louie Varland (0-0, 4.50 ERA) vs Dylan Cease (2-1, 4.15 ERA)
What to Watch:
The x-factor within this game will be the performance from Dylan Cease for Chicago. If he can have a strong start then he will put the White Sox in prime position to take the game. However, he has been a bit shaky to open the season and the team desperately needs a solid start from him today. He needs to limit the damage against a good Twins offense and hope that the White Sox can generate some run support for him.
Minnesota has a good enough offense to get to Cease unless he has one of his epic games. The Twins have solid contact hitters up and down the lineup so Cease will need to make sure that his command is on point tonight.
Game Prediction: Minnesota Twins 3, Chicago White Sox 2
Minnesota grabs this game despite Cease pitching a good outing on the mound today.
