The Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals begin a big three game series today. The Brewers come in after sweeping the Kansas City Royals in a three game series and they will be looking to keep the momentum alive and well. As for the Cardinals, they enter this series after winning six of their last seven games, including a sweep of the Boston Red Sox in their previous series. St. Louis has come on strong after a terrible start and they find themselves right back in the thick of things, contention wise. This was a team that had massive expectations entering the season and they are finally playing like a possible World Series contender. Despite it being so early on in the year, winning division games can be the defining factor come playoff seeding time. So this is a massive series between two NL Central rivals and we look to be in for a good matchup.

Date: Monday, May 15th, 2023

Time: 7:45 p.m. EST

Location: Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri

Team Records: Milwaukee Brewers (23-17), St. Louis Cardinals (16-25)

Projected Starting Pitchers:

Freddy Peralta (4-2, 2.32 ERA) vs Jack Flaherty (2-4, 6.18 ERA)

What to Watch:

The Brewers hand the ball to Freddy Peralta today and he has the task of shutting down a Cardinals team that suddenly has caught fire. Peralta has some nice stuff on the mound and if he can limit the damage from the St. Louis offense, then the Brewers themselves should be able to score some runs. Milwaukee has been one of the best surprises of the season and it has been led by a solid offensive attack.

St. Louis will be looking to keep their winning ways going after a disaster of a start to the season. They find themselves somewhat back in contention for the division race and taking games against the teams ahead of them, like the Brewers, is a great way to build back up. If the Red Birds can jump out to an early lead, it could give them even more confidence to start this series against a division rival.

Game Prediction: St. Louis Cardinals 7, Milwaukee Brewers 6

The pitching implodes early on and it leads to a more offensive firepower type of matchup with the Cardinals grabbing the home win.
