Houston Astros vs Milwaukee Brewers Game Preview and Prediction 5/22/2023

As the new week gets going, the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers kick off a three game series here. With the Astros, they come into this series playing very well as they just came off sweeping the Oakland Athletics over three games. They have won seven straight overall and are finally looking like the team that many thought they would be once again. If they can keep things rolling over the Brewers here, it would culminate a strong push from a team that started off very slowly. As for the Brewers, they come in after dropping two of three to the Tampa Bay Rays in their last series. They will be looking to get back on track here and need to do so in order to keep pace in the NL Central division. As this series gets going, we should be in for some good baseball between two of the better teams around the game.

Projected Starting Pitchers:

Christian Javier (4-1, 3.25 ERA vs Corbin Burnes (4-3 3.48 ERA)

What to Watch:

This game features two of the better pitchers around the game of baseball. Both Corbin Burnes and Christian Javier have the ability to completely shut down the opposing teams offense. Houston is relying on Javier to take down one of the more patient lineups in baseball while the Brewers need their ace in Burnes to slow down the defending champions. The Astros got their leader in star shortstop José Altuve back recently and just having him in the lineup, gives them a more complete batting order.

Burnes is going to have the task of limiting any damage from the Astros lineup and then rely on his offense to get him run support. It has been an up and down season for Burnes so far but he has showed flashes of bring his former dominant self at times. If he can get into an early rhythm, it could be a nice day for Burnes and the Brew Crew.

Game Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers 6, Houston Astros 2

Burnes takes over this game after giving up some early runs and lets the offense do the rest. It is a combined team effort to get win here.
