We have an inter-league matchup today as the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers begin a three game series. The Tigers come in after an impressive sweep of the New York Mets at home. Detroit is finally showcased some of the talent that they have on the roster and maybe this is the time for them to turn the corner. As for the Cardinals, they are coming off yet another sweep, this time at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels. St. Louis has lost six straight games entering tonight and they desperately need a win. Both teams are heading in different directions, making this a fascinating matchup to watch over the next few days.

What to Watch:
St. Louis has fallen completely off a cliff to start this season. They currently hold the worst record in the National League and this is a team that needs to get wins and fast. They are falling behind in their own division with some surprising other teams sitting ahead of them. The Cardinals were thought of as the favorites for the NL Central division so it’s a little surprising at how bad they have been. They still have some star power in Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt but it hasn’t worked this season.
They are going to need a massive get tight game from starter Jordan Montgomery today if they want to take down Detroit. They have dug themselves into a large hole and now the climb begins.

Give me the Tigers to keep the winning streak going today. It has been a tough stretch for St. Louis and it continues here at home.
