The New York Mets are set to begin their 10 game road trip and it will start by heading to the Coliseum to take on the Oakland Athletics. In a game that should go the Mets way with the A’s having a dreadful start to the season, don’t be surprised if this game is a close and tight matchup.
Date: Friday, April 14th, 2023
Time: 9:40 p.m. EST
Location: Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in Oakland, California
Team Records: New York Mets (7-6), Oakland Athletics (3-10)
Projected Starting Pitchers:
Kodai Senga (2-0, 1.59 ERA) vs James Kaprielian (0-1), 11.17 ERA
What to Watch:
The Mets are looking to build off taking two out of three from the San Diego Padres as they will send Japanese sensation Kodai Senga to the mound. Senga has been off to a great start in the majors winning both of his starts with his most recent one being on April 8 against the Marlins striking out six over six innings of work. One player to keep an eye out for New York is Pete Alonso. The Polar Bear is off to a great start with him already hitting a major league leading sixth home run against San Diego on Wednesday. He will look to continue his hot start with the bat.
For the A’s, they are coming off losing three out of four to the Baltimore Orioles while giving up an absurd 33 runs in the four games played. They will look for much better success in this game when they send out righty James Kaprielian to the mound who’s looking to bounce back after giving up seven earned runs in a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Game Prediction: New York Mets 7, Oakland Athletics 1
Senga has been off to a great start in the big leagues, the Mets offense has been playing well as of late and the A’s are simply a bad team. So the Mets will take this one.
