Josh Hader Gets Over 45 Saves
Hader has pitched 12 innings this season, he has 17 strikeouts and has only allowed four hits. He’s up to nine saves on the young season and is on pace to have over 50 saves when it’s all said and done. Hader has a 0.75 earned run average as well and looks unstoppable. This version of Josh Hader is nice to see, especially after he had a down year in 2022. We’ll see if he can keep this pace and stay lights out all season.
Shane McClanahan Reaches 20 Wins
McClanahan is currently 5-0 with a 2.12 earned run average. He’s the ace of the Rays loaded pitching staff and looks like a guaranteed CY Young award finalist. He has 42 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched and has only given up eight runs on the season. The dominant lefty has almost solidified himself as a top five pitcher in all of baseball. If McClanahan stays this hot all season, there’s no reason he doesn’t reach 20 wins.
Nico Hoerner Exceeds 200 Hits
Hoerner is hitting .336 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in so far on the season. He’s currently tied for second in hits with 36. Only Ronald Acuna Jr. and Bryson Stott have more hits with 37. Hoerner is excellent for the Cubs at the top of their lineup and he is one of the best contact hitters in Major League Baseball. Not to mention, Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner are one of the best middle infield tandems in all of baseball. He may not be the most fun and exciting player to watch, but he sure does get it done day in and day out. It’s a long shot, but 200 hits is well within reach as of today.
