Minnesota Twins vs New York Yankees Game Preview and Prediction 4/13/2023

The Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees begin a four game series tonight from the Bronx. Both teams have started the season off well and will be looking to make an early statement against a potential playoff opponent down the line. The Twins come in with a record of 4-2 on the road this season while the Yankees are 4-2 at home as well. So far at least, these two teams seem pretty even so that could make for a really fun and entertaining matchup as the weekend unfolds.

Joe Ryan (2-0, 3.75 ERA) vs Jhony Brito (2-0, 0.90 ERA)

What to Watch:

The Yankees will be throwing out young pitcher Jhony Brito who has been awesome to start the season and his career. In his last outing, he threw five innings and only gave up one run to the Baltimore Orioles. Before that, he threw five shutout innings with six strikeouts in his MLB debut against the San Francisco Giants. If Brito continues pitching this way, the Yankees will be in great shape with their starting rotation.

The player for the Yankees to watch as this series goes on is shortstop

Anthony Volpe. The young player that caught the attention of the baseball world during spring training has struggled to start the year. He is only hitting .143 and has had some trouble getting up to speed with major league pitching. If he can have a strong series and get going, the Yankees could easily take a few of the games.

Game Prediction: New York Yankees 5, Minnesota Twins 2

I like the Yankees to grab this game behind another strong showing from Brito. He helps them get their ninth win of the year tonight.
