The Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics continue their three game series today. Both teams have split the first two matchups with the Angels taking the game yesterday by a dominant score of 13-1. In the opening game, Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani was brilliant and kept the Oakland offense at bay but the Athletics would take the game by score of 2-1. We have the rubber match today and it should be a good one between the two AL West squads.

What to watch

What I’m going to watch for in this game is the Angels starting pitcher, Tyler Anderson. After a dominant year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Anderson jumped down the I-5 freeway to join the Halos on a multiyear deal. He rejuvenated his career with the Dodgers so it’ll be interesting to see how he pitches with a different organization and what he took from his time in Los Angeles. He has good stuff on the mound and surely will be fired up, making his debut with his new club.

As for Oakland, they likely will be at the bottom of the MLB standings once again. The organization has acted in a way that many have criticized due to their “tanking” and lack of spending any real resources to put a quality product on the field. They throw out Walkichuk, who made seven starts last season. He went 2-2 and had an ERA of 4.93 last year. He did start against the Angels and did pretty well, throwing seven scoreless innings and striking out four. Oakland will need him to keep the Angels offense cold today if they want a chance of getting the win.

Game Prediction: Los Angeles Angels 4, Oakland Athletics 3

I like the Angels to get the victory behind a good start from Anderson. Oakland hasn’t shown the ability to generate runs and the Angels take advantage. Give me the road team to grab their second win.
