The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers begin a three-game series tonight. It’s the first meeting between the two sides this season and they both come in looking for some momentum. The Royals did take two of three from the San Francisco Giants in their last series but the season has started off slow for them. The Rangers dropped two of three to the Chicago Cubs over the weekend and will be looking to gain some ground.
Date: Monday, April 10th, 2023
Time: 8:05 p.m. EST
Location: Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas
Team Records: Kansas City Royals (3-7), Texas Rangers (5-4)
Projected Starting Pitchers:
Zack Greinke (0-2, 2.38 ERA) vs Andrew Heaney (0-1, 23.63 ERA)
What to Watch:
For Texas, Andrew Heaney is going to need to be better than his first outing. He got roughed up by the Baltimore Orioles last time out, giving up seven earned runs over 2.2 innings. He is very prone to giving up home runs and will need to keep them to a minimum. Luckily, the Royals offense hasn’t been the best to start the season so maybe Heaney can recover today.
The x-factor for the Royals tonight will be Greinke. Kansas City has gotten off to a slow start this season but Greinke has been good despite his record. He has given up a total of three earned runs over his first two starts but the lack of run support has hurt him. If he can contain this Texas offense then the Royals may be able to sneak out the win.
Game Prediction: Kansas City Royals 4, Texas Rangers 2
Give me the Royals to grab the big victory to open the series behind a good outing from Greinke. They get their fourth win on the season here.
