2023 NHL Playoffs First Round: Seattle Kraken vs Colorado Avalanche Game 4 Preview and Prediction

We have another Western Conference showdown here as the Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken get ready for game four of their first-round playoff series. The Avalanche took game three in dominant fashion, giving them a 2-1 series lead heading into tonight. Puck-drop between the two sides is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. EST from Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.

The Kraken come in after dropping the last two games of the series. They surprisingly took game one and have a chance to tie the series up before it heads back to Mile High in a few days but they will need a better defensive performance. Defense has been their biggest weakness all season long and the Avs have taken advantage of it in this series. However, the Kraken do excel on offense and could try to play the offensive attack. If Seattle can create strong scoring chances for themselves and put pressure on Colorado, they could find success. It is almost a make or break game for the Kraken here tonight.

The Avalanche come into this game having won two straight games and have regained home ice advantage. If they can finish off the game tonight with a win, then they could be heading back home up 3-1 in the series with a chance to advance in front of their fans. After a slow start in game one, the Colorado offense has come alive, scoring nine goals in the previous two games. They will need more of the same if they want to take down the Kraken again. If they can quiet the Seattle crowd early, it could be a good sign for them. Colorado has a championship pedigree and the defending champions know how important a game like tonight really is.

Game Prediction: Colorado Avalanche 6, Seattle Kraken 2

As strong as the Kraken have been throughout the series, I am going with the Avalanche to win. From the opening jump, it will be clear who will end up winning the game.
