The Columbus Blue Jackets and San Jose Sharks are set to square off tonight from the SAP Center in San Jose. Puck-drop between the two teams is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. EST.

The Blue Jackets come into this game sitting as the worst team around the NHL. They hold a record of 20-38-7 and they are on a four game losing streak. It hasn’t been a fun year whatsoever for Columbus and they are reeling. After what many believed was a strong offseason for them, the worst case scenario has played out. On offense, they have been bad this season, only averaging 2.6 goals per game. On defense they haven’t been much better as they allow 3.7 goals to opposing teams per game. It has been a tough season for the Blue Jackets and tonight does play an important role as they play the team right ahead of them in the standings for worst in the league.

As mentioned, the Sharks have had a really tough year as well. They have lost three straight entering tonight and sit in last place within the Pacific Division. On offense, they are only averaging 2.9 goals per game and are giving up 3.7 to opponents. They are squarely locked into the upcoming NHL Draft and it would likely be in their best interest to lose to Columbus tonight. However, this is a prideful franchise so they are trying to win as many games as they can before the season ends.

Prediction: San Jose Sharks 4, Columbus Blue Jackets 2

I like the Sharks in this game. Being at home will give them a boost and I can’t trust Columbus at all right now.
