The Calgary Flames head to Honda Center for a matchup with the Anaheim Ducks tonight. Puck-drop between the two Pacific Division teams is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. EST.
Calgary enters this game somehow still in the playoff picture. They will need a big boost over the last part of the season but never say never. This is a team that has gone 4-4-2 over their last 10 games and they need to pick things up if they want to reach the playoffs. On offense, they average three goals per game and are allowing three goals to opposing teams as well. As they take on the lowly Ducks tonight, this is a game that the Flames need to have. If they come in focused, they should be able to handle Anaheim.
The Ducks have been battling inconsistency all season long and it has them fully focused on the upcoming NHL Draft here in a few months. They have played better of late as they have earned points in nine of their last 12 games overall. This is a young, talented team that seems to finally be figuring some things out but it’s a little too late in the year for any sort of final push. They have really had issues on both sides of the ice all season and going up against a Flames team that has been playing poorly of late, could give them a chance for another win. They will also get some reinforcements tonight as forward Nikita Nesterenko will make his NHL debut tonight for the team.
Prediction: Calgary Flames 4, Anaheim Ducks 2
Despite the Ducks playing better, I still can’t fully trust them to get a win. Give me the Flames to grab the win on the road here.
