The New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights face off in Newark, New Jersey for a heavyweight matchup. Two top 10 teams meet for the first time this season and should bring a highly anticipated matchup. Both teams are offensive juggernauts and score a ton of goals.
The Devils with their win on Sunday became the first team in the Metropolitan Division to reach 30 wins. The Golden Knights play their second game in a four game road trip that takes them through the New York metro area teams. The Golden Knights have struggled recently, having lost four out of their last five games. The Devils have won six of their last seven games and only have one regulation loss in the month of January. Last season, the two teams split the two matchups they played against each other, scoring a combined 13 goals.
Players To Watch
For the Devils, Nico Hischier is the player to watch. The Devils’ captain has five points in the last four games. With 45 points in 45 games, he is on pace to surpass his career high of 60 points set last season. The Swiss center earlier this season went on a scoring tear and asserted himself as one of the best two-way centers in the NHL.
For the Golden Knights, Alex Pietrangelo is the player to watch. Pietraneglo’s impact on both sides of the ice as a defenseman has made him one of the most important pieces in Vegas’ lineup. He ranks in the 98th percentile for five vs. five offense and is one of the league’s better penalty killing defensemen.
