Shedeur Sanders Will Win The Heisman Trophy At Colorado

By

Many college football fans were up in arms when 24/7 Sports and Fox Sports listed Shedeur Sanders as a potential Heisman candidate. There are a lot of unknowns around the Colorado football program, but Deion Sanders has won everywhere he’s been and has an offensive staff with an impressive track record. The biggest challenge will be getting everyone to believe as there are many moving pieces in Boulder, but when that happens Colorado will be at the top of the PAC-12.

Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams left Oklahoma for the University of Southern California (USC) where they produced a 11 win season and Heisman trophy winner in year one. Coach Riley has laid out the blueprint for Deion Sanders (Coach Prime) to follow to produce similar results as USC did in year one. The Buffaloes signal caller will know exactly what he needs to do statistically to have a chance at winning the Heisman. Simply put, Sanders needs to keep pace with Caleb Williams in all aspects.

The PAC-12 conference is fluid on who the best team in the conference is as there have been five different schools to win the conference title in the past 10 years. Playing in the conference championship will be key to Sanders resume for Heisman voters when considering who will be their top choice. The PAC-12 conference is the best conference for a newcomer headed to one of the worst teams in college football a season ago.

Colorado has the number three transfer class in college football, which is two spots from where USC ranked a year ago in the transfer recruiting class ranking. Coach Prime still has time to improve their transfer portal ranking with signing day quickly approaching. The Buffaloes have their eyes on a few elite prospects for their high school recruiting class that will make immediate impacts with the potential to assist in Sanders Heisman run. The PAC-12 is known for high scoring contests and a lot of passing opportunities for quarterbacks which bodes well for the Buffaloes new signal caller.

Offensive coordinator Sean Lewis led Kent State to a top five offense in all of college football as a head coach. Lewis doesn’t have to manage all the duties of a head coach, so he can spend 100% of his time focusing on the offense and coming up with schemes to produce results. Also, coach Gary Harrell has experience as a offensive minded head coach, so expect for the coaches to make things simple for the Buffaloes quarterback.

Offensive Skill:

Travis Hunter, WR/DB

Jordyn Tyson, WR

Jimmy Horn Jr., WR

Seydou Traore, TE

Kavosiey Smoke, RB

The names mentioned above are all high level athletes that will make his job easier and there are more athletes that weren’t named. Coach Prime needs to continue to address the offensive line as below average offensive line play will limit the offensive play calling to account for less time for the quarterback to go through progressions. Sanders has the opportunity to make a statement in front of the college football world in Colorado’s season opener against runner up TCU. Colorado has a National Championship and a Heisman winner, so it can and will be done under the leadership of coach Prime.
