Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Lakers

How To Watch:

Date: Wednesday, January 18th

Game Time: 10:30pm EST

Venue: Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California

Record: Kings 24-18, Lakers 20-24

Things To Know:

  • The Lakers have been on a scoring rampage of late, including three games scoring over 130 in their last six games. Their most recent being a 140-132 win over the Houston Rockets.
  • The Kings have the best offense in the league and currently average 120 points per game.
  • This is the fourth meeting this season between these two teams, including most recently when the Lakers beat the Kings 136-134 on January 7.

Why The Kings Can Win:

In the battle of two California teams, the Kings are seemingly the better one. With a top offense in the league, you can rely on them to score points. Especially against a Lakers defense that has struggled immensely this season, the Kings should have this game in the bag. LeBron James is currently questionable, but he should be good to go by game time. He scored a whopping 48 in the Lakers last game, so he needs to be the focus for this Sacramento defense. Play to your strengths is the name of the game for these two teams, and for both of these teams it’s the offense. With the edge over the Lakers on the offensive end, the Kings should come away with this one by a very close score.

Why The Lakers Can Win:

In their last game, the Lakers were able to top the worst team in the league, the Houston Rockets, by scoring 140 points. However, they did allow the worst team in the league to follow them up with 132 points. If they want to beat the Kings, something has to work on defense. With Sacramento being as high-powered as they are on the offensive end, you can’t let them score over their average if you want to beat them. They need to have some sort of control on defense to have a chance because I don’t think their offense will catch up. They did win their last matchup, but it took them scoring 136 to do so. Coming off a 140 point performance, it is hard to imagine they can follow it up with another score similar, but they will have to if their defense doesn’t hold the Kings offense.
