Indiana Pacers vs. Orlando Magic

How To Watch:

Date: Wednesday, January 25th

Time: 7:00 p.m. EST

Venue: Amway Center, Orlando, Florida

Record: Pacers (24-25), Magic (18-29)

Things To Know:

  • The Pacers had lost six-straight games before defeating the Chicago Bulls 116-110 on Tuesday night.
  • While Indiana has played extremely well at home this season (16-9), they have failed to replicate that level of play on the road (8-16).
  • Tyrese Haliburton (knee) is out and Andrew Nembhard (illness) is questionable for tonight’s contest.
  • The Magic are coming off maybe their biggest win of the season, beating the first-place Boston Celtics 113-98 on Monday.
  • Like the Pacers, the Magic are a much better team on their home floor (12-12 record). In comparison, Orlando is just 6-17 on the road this season.

Why The Pacers Can Win:

Despite the absence of Haliburton, the Pacers have enough weapons to outscore teams. In their most recent win over the Bulls, Myles Turner, T. J. McConnell, and Bennedict Mathurin all scored 20 or more points. That does not include Buddy Hield, who added 19 of his own. A potential return to the lineup for Nembhard would not only give them another scorer, but a guy who can make plays for others. A high-scoring game in this matchup could benefit the Pacers chances of winning.

Why The Magic Can Win:

The Magic have begun to show signs of a team that is beginning to build a winning culture as the season has gone on. Orlando is 3-1 against the Celtics and 2-0 against the reigning champion Golden State Warriors, just to name a few. Don’t forget that the Magic are winless against the Pacers this season, losing each of the first two matchups. They will most certainly be looking to get some revenge on their home floor.

As we take a look at their roster, the return of Jonathan Isaac completely changes the dynamic of this team. Before his injury in 2020, the 25-year-old wing was considered to be one of the best defenders in the league. Mix in his ability to score the basketball and you got yourself a pretty solid player. The Magic have the building blocks in Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs, but the addition of Issac should not be understated. Orlando is coming off a magnificent performance two nights ago, now it is just a matter of showing that consistently.
