The Florida Panthers play their second game in as many days, this time in Pittsburgh. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EST.

Florida enters tonight’s game with a 23-21-5 record (51 points) and sit fifth in the Atlantic Division. The Panthers are led in scoring by Matthew Tkachuk, who has notched 24 goals in 46 games this season. Carter Verhaeghe follows right behind with 23 goals on the year. Tkachuk also leads Florida in points with 60. He is 19 points ahead of Aleksander Barkov (41) and 20 points ahead of Brandon Montour (40) for the team lead. With Alex Lyon in the net last night and Sergei Bobrovsky injured, Spencer Knight will likely get the nod tonight. Knight is 9-7-3 with a 3.05 goal against average and a .906 save percentage in 19 games.

Pittsburgh carries a 23-15-8 record (54 points) into tonight’s contest and sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division. The Penguins are led by its captain Sidney Crosby. The 35-year-old leads Pittsburgh in both goals with 22 and points with 54. Jake Guentzel and Evgeni Malkin have been the second and third-best players for Pittsburgh this season. Guentzel has tallied 20 goals and 43 points, while Malkin has notched 16 goals and 44 points. Tristan Jarry returned last game following an injury and guided the Penguins to a win. The goaltender is 16-5-5 with a 2.65 GAA and a .921 SV% in 27 games. Kris Letang has been listed as a game-time decision (personal) while Josh Archibald (lower body) has been moved to long-term injured reserve.

Pittsburgh took the first meeting between the sides in December 4-2. Tonight’s projected starting goaltenders are Knight for Florida and Jarry for Pittsburgh.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 4, Florida 3

I am giving the edge to the rested, home team here. Florida is playing in the backend of a back-to-back situation after getting beat in New York last night. Jarry will be better than Knight which will be the difference tonight.
