Buffalo carries a three-game winning streak into a backend of a back-to-back with a stop in St. Louis. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:08 p.m. EST.

The Sabres bring a 24-19-3 record (51 points) into tonight’s game. Buffalo has been led by breakout star Tage Thompson, who has notched a team-high 32 goals thus far. Thompson also leads the Sabres in points with 63. Alex Tuch and Victor Olofsson are tied for second on the team in goals with 22. Rasmus Dahlin has notched 53 points this season, while Tuch rounds out the top three of one of the highest scoring offenses in the NHL with 51 points. With Craig Anderson getting the start last night, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen appears to be in line to start. The 23-year-old is 12-5-1 with a 3.31 goals against average and an .899 save percentage in 18 games.

The Blues carry a 23-21-6 record (49 points) into tonight’s game and sit sixth in the Central Division. Jordan Kyrou leads the team in goals with 22 in his first 44 games. The 24-year-old also leads St. Louis in points with 45. Pavel Buchnevich ranks second on the Blues in points with 15 while Robert Thomas is second in points with 43. Jordan Binnington has been St. Louis’ goaltender of choice, appearing in 36 games this season. Binnington is 18-15-3 with a 3.26 GAA and an .891 SV%. On the injury front, Pavel Buchnevich has hit the injured reserve with an ankle injury. St. Louis will get some players back tonight as Torey Krug (lower body), and Vladimir Tarasenko (hand) have both been activated off IR.

Despite taking both contests last season, the Blues fell to the Sabres in the first meeting this season, 6-2. Tonight’s starting goaltenders are projected to be Luukkonen for Buffalo and Binnington for St. Louis.

Prediction: St. Louis 6, Buffalo 4

This game should be high-flying and very entertaining as both teams have loved going over. I am once again giving the edge to the better rested, home team starting the better goaltender. At the end of the day, whichever offense finishes more of its chances will take this one.
