-TCU’s only loss this season came in overtime in the Big-12 title game to Kansas State
Why Georgia Will Win
TCU had success running against Michigan, that won’t be the case with Georgia. The Bulldogs lead the nation in contacting runners at or behind the line of scrimmage, Michigan was ranked 93rd. The Horned Frogs will have to lean heavily on the pass game as Georgia will take away the ground game. On offense, Stetson Bennett will be able to exploit the TCU defense that relies on their 3-3-5 alignments. When Bennett has gone against five defensive backs, he has a 69.9% completion percentage and averaging nine yards per attempt. Between Bennett passing and two capable backs in Kenny McIntosh and Daijun Edwards going up against light boxes, the Georgia offense should be able to move the ball frequently.
Why TCU Will Win
TCU showed some toughness taking down Michigan in the fahsion they did. They were physical and that was a questionmark for them coming into the College Football Playoff. Georgia has been suseptible to allowing big, explosive plays all season. TCU loves the big play and that could cause some issues for the biggest weakness of the Georgia defense. The last two games for Georgia, their defense has gotten somewhat exposed so look for TCU to take advantage.
TCU will look to spread the ball around so Georgia won’t be able to focus on one main reciever. Obviously, TCU has Quentin Johnson and he is going to need another big game if the Horned Frogs are to win. He should be able to exploit the Bulldogs defense if they can protect quarterback Max Duggan.
The TCU defense is going to be key in this matchup. They forced multiple turnovers against a good Michigan team and will look to do the same. If they can pressure Stetson Bennett early, they could carve out a nice spot for themselves. This is an opportunistic defense and one that is underrated around the country.
