In absolutely shocking news, two-time Cy Young winner and generational talent, Jacob deGrom, has signed a five-year, 185 million dollar contract with the Texas Rangers, where he’ll have a sixth-year option to boost the total deal to just over 220 million dollars. Along with the extremely high monetary value of the contract, deGrom will also have a full-no trade clause, and become the third major star to be signed by the Rangers in the last two off-seasons.
The former New York Met will be joining another team for the very first time in his career after an injury-riddled two-year period saw him miss significant time on the mound. By the time deGrom is over with his newly signed contract, he’ll be 40 years old and near the end of his career. The new Ranger is one of the best pitchers to ever touch a baseball, but does have health and age concerns. Texas will be banking on the fact that he’ll continue to deliver year in and year out.
Jacob deGrom has found a new home at Globe Life Field and will start a new chapter of his career in the red and blue.
