We have a Pacific Division matchup tonight between the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks from Honda Center. Puck-drop is scheduled for 10pm EST between the teams. The game will be featured on ESPN plus and Hulu this evening with an all-female broadcast crew!
The Sharks come into this game with a record of 8-16-5 while Anaheim sits right below them in the division at 7-17-3. This is a contest between two of the worst teams around the NHL but is a rivalry game, giving it a chance for excitement.
The two teams know each other pretty well and are looking for some bragging rights tonight. Both teams have struggled out of the gates so this could be a lower scoring affair. Both Anaheim and San Jose haven’t shown the ability to be consistent on the offensive side of the ice. They both are averaging under three goals per game overall.
Defensively, the Sharks are a little better than Anaheim but that isn’t saying much. The Ducks have allowed the most goals overall in the NHL and almost like clockwork, get run around on the defensive end each night. San Jose would be wise to push the the pace in this game and create more scoring chances for themselves against a poor Ducks defense.
Prediction: San Jose Sharks 4, Anaheim Ducks 2
I think this game will go into the third period tied but the Sharks pull away in the final 20 mins of the game. Anaheim has mental laspes throughout games and I think San Jose can really exploit them down the stretch of the game.
