Jayden Reed 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

By

Jayden Reed / Wide Receiver / Michigan State / 6’0, 185 pounds

Strengths:

-Has great short area quickness

-Major run after the catch ability

-Can take advantage of open seams despite his lack of straight line speed

-Reliable hands

-Willingness to play in the middle of the field

Weaknesses:

-At times fails to adjust to more physcial defensive backs

-Vision needs to improve

-Has had some issues with drops in the past

-Speed won’t blow by anyone on the NFL level

Round Grade: Likely third round. Longshot for the second round depending how the board falls

Analysis: Easily the most explosive weapon from the Spartans offense, Reed has the ability to become a good NFL player. He can be very quick off the line of scrimmage and has grown to have more reliable hands after some drop issues previously. He has also shown the ability to block downfield which will bode well with any NFL coaches. That skill is a necessity in this day and age of the NFL. His breakout year was 2021 when he posted 59 catches for 1026 yarsd and 10 touchdowns. He followed that up with 55 catches for 636 yards and five touchdowns in 2022. Obviously the statistics went down but Michigan State did struggle on offense for much of 2022. Reed still put up numbers and was a real threat for opposing defenses.
