The Avalanche end a four-game road trip in Philadelphia against the lowly Flyers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST.
Colorado had a bit of a Stanley Cup hangover but have been able to steady the course. The Avs enter tonight with a 13-8-1 record. Those 27 points sit Colorado in fourth place in the Central Division. The Avalanche are led in scoring by Mikko Rantanen with 14 goals. Rantanen slots in second place on the team in points with 31. He trails Nathan MacKinnon who has notched 33 points in 22 games. MacKinnon’s 33 points are tied for ninth in the NHL with his good friend Sidney Crosby. Alexander Georgiev has been fantastic in his first season with the Avs. The 26-year-old is 11-3-1 with a 2.58 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
Colorado has its shar of injuries as well. Bowen Byram has found himself on injured reserve with a lower body injury that has kept him out since November 4th. Artturi Lehkonen will not play tonight after suffering an upper-body injury on Saturday in Boston. Jean-Luc Foudy will also miss tonight’s game with a lower-body injury.
Philadelphia has lost 12 of its last 13 games coming into tonight. The Flyers 8-12-5 record (21 points) slot the team seventh in the Metropolitan Division. Philly is led offensively by Travis Konecny who has notched nine goals in 19 games this season. Kevin Hayes leads the Flyers in points with 25 while Konecny sits in second with 21. Carter Hart has been Philadelphia’s number one goaltender this season. The 24-year old has a 7-7-4 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .911 SV% in 18 games.
Colorado has taken five of the last six meetings between the two sides including both games in regulation last season. Tonight’s projected starting goaltenders are Georgiev for Colorado and Hart for Philadelphia.
