Arizona’s arena situation has left them with an odd-looking schedule with both long road trips and home stands. The Yotes have struggled on this trip with a 4-5-3 record in its past 12 games. Arizona’s 7-11-4 overall record (18 points) gives the side seventh place in the Central Division. The Coyotes are led in scoring by Lawson Crouse who has reached 10 goals on the year. Clayton Keller leads Arizona in points and is the only skater over the 20-point threshold with 21 total points. Karel Vejmelka has been good for the Yotes in net. The 26-year-old has a 6-6-3 record with a 3.02 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
Calgary has been average this season notching an 11-10-3 record in its first 24 games. The Flames 25 points are good enough for fifth place in the Pacific Division. Calgary has spread the scoring throughout its lineup this season and has three players tied atop the scoring charts. Elia Lindholm, Tyler Toffoli and Nazem Kadri all have eight goals thus far. Lindholm stands along atop the points leaderboard with 18 points. Toffoli and Rasmus Andersson follow closely behind with 17 points each. Jacob Marskstrom and Dan Vladar have both been solid this season in net. Markstrom is 8-6-2 with a 2.97 GAA and an.889 SV% while Vladar is 3-4-1 with a 2.61 GAA and a .915 SV%.
Calgary has won five straight games against the Coyotes including all three matchups last season in regulation. Tonight’s starting goaltenders are projected to be Vejmelka for Arizona and Vladar for Calgary.
