In a game between two of the most dominant teams in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is their first of three meetings this season between two teams who can contend for a championship. The game will take place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The 76ers have won seven of their last nine games, and they do not look like they plan on stopping any time soon. Despite missing Tyrese Maxey and James Harden, they’ve been playing consistently and efficiently. In fact, they are still averaging 114 points per game with both players absent. Additionally, they have a bit of an uptick in away scoring compared to at home with 111.8 and 107.7 respectively, which is the third-largest away point differential in the league.

The Cavaliers, on the other hand, have been dominant on both sides of the ball. They have allowed just 107 points per game, which ranks second in the league, and rank in the top half of the league in scoring. They definitely started to slow down in their scoring in their last three games, which has dropped to 97.3. This was due to the fact that they were on a road trip where they haven’t been anywhere near as good away as they have at home, where they hold an 8-1 record.

How Philadelphia Can Win:

The 76ers run through Joel Embiid, and he is going to have to be on it if they want to beat the Cavaliers. He has been averaging 39 points in his last five games and has quite literally been carrying this team with Harden and Maxey out. Their current next best scoring option is Tobias Harris, who averages 16.9 leading up to tonight.

Philadelphia has one of the best defenses in the league, allowing just 105.8 points per game. If they can hold Cleveland like teams have in their last few games, then this score will not be close.

How Cleveland Can Win:

The Cavaliers need the advantage in the back court to truly shine. In their Monday night loss to the Toronto Raptors they only scored 88 points, Donovan Mitchell was off his game, only scoring eight points and Darius Garland added on 18 only taking 11 total shots. Volume will be the key for them and if they can take good shots often, that will be enough to carry them over the 76ers. If the 76ers have a few scoreless stretches, the Cavaliers need to take advantage and not let up.

Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers 113, Philadelphia 76ers 102

I expect this game to be fairly low scoring with two amazing defenses, but at the end of the day, the Cavaliers have more scoring talent to take the win at home.
