The Los Angeles Lakers travel to San Antonio for the first of a back-to-back matchup with the Spurs. Tip-off is scheduled to tip-off at 8pm EST from the AT&T Center.
Los Angeles comes in with a record of 5-11 and are looking to make up some major ground in the standings. San Antonio enters this game with a record of 6-13 and want to stop the bleeding. The Spurs are 1-9 over their last ten games but now have a chance against the Lakers to earn some wins.
Both of these teams are towards the bottom of the NBA in terms of records so they will be jockeying for position in the standings. It’s a great opportunity for both squads to pick up some confidence during this two game series.
How Los Angeles can win: The Lakers come in after winning three of the last four games despite LeBron James missing time. James is expected to play in this game against the Spurs and will give them a much needed boost. Anthony Davis has held his won and kept the team afloat while James has been out and will look to continue his dominance here.
The key for the Lakers will be whether or not they can hit their three point shots. The team isn’t built for this to be a strength but has shown that they can win games in spite of it. Against a team like the Spurs, the Lakers need to come out focused from the jump and not let up.
How San Antonio can win: The Spurs have struggled of late but are going against one of the worst offenses in the NBA. If they can take advantage of that fact and make their own shots, they will have a chance to win.
San Antonio came into this season as a team that was expected to tank and they have done the job well. It’s a tough place for fans to be but in the long run, it could prove to be what is best for the franchise.
Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers 113, San Antonio Spurs 106
I think that the Lakers will do enough to earn the win on the first night of the back-to-back. They have played better of late and it will result in another win tonight.
