Los Angeles Kings vs Dallas Stars Game Preview 11/1/2022

The Rundown:

The Los Angeles Kings continue their road-trip as the head to Dallas tonight to face the Stars at American Airlines Center. The Kings are in the second half of a back-to-back, as they beat the St. Louis Blues last night by a score of 5-1. A Western Conference matchup against two teams who forced game sevens in the first round of the playoffs last year, we’re in for a treat.

The Matchup

The Dallas Stars and the Los Angeles Kings are trying to be on the come up again in the West. Teams with aging cores looking for a change at  another shot for the Cup. Last season, through three matchups last year the Stars came out on top. The Kings out scored the Stars through those matchups 9-7, but their matchups were always super close. Currently on the year, the Stars are off to the better start with a record of 5-3-1, while the Kings are trying to turn things around with a record of 6-5.

Players To Watch

For the Kings, Kevin Fiala should be the player to watch. Added this last offseason, Fiala was a huge addition to the Kings top six forward group. He currently leads the Kings in assists with 11 so far on the season. But as we know him, he is a sniper. With only two goals on the year, it should only be a matter of time for Fiala to start filling the net more. Currently Fiala is on the third line, which is irregular for him, but I expect to see him climb his way back up the roster with the way he has been performing.

For the Stars, Jason Robertson is the player to watch. After earning that big contract in the offseason, Robertson has gone straight to work. As the team leader in points at age 23, he takes on a new role for the team. Robertson right now is undoubtedly their best player and the piece to build around. Being the first line right winger next to Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski, he already has 10 points on the season. A skilled young talent with much more to give, he can become an elite player scoring more than his career 79 points and 41 goals from last season.
