Is It Too Late To Recover For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went on the road to lose a must-win game against the Cleveland Browns, falling by a score of 23-17. For the Buccaneers, it was another tough loss that undoubtedly puts their hopes at winning the division on a hold. These are my three takeaways from the Buccaneers loss.

The Coaching Staff Continues to Disappoint

The biggest outrage in the loss was what appeared to be time-out mismanagement in the fourth quarter that caused the game to go into overtime. The Buccaneers fanbase has been very down on the new coaching regime after the retirement of Bruce Arians. Many were hoping for continued success under the new staff and have been disappointed after a slow 5-6 start. The coaching staff continues to let down the players and fans by making basic mistakes that have cost the Buccaneers wins and Buccaneers fans are not optimistic for the team’s future after Tom Brady’s inevitable retirement. This team was supposed to be a playoff lock, but the coaching staff has managed to make the playoffs something the team must fight for.

Tristan Wirfs will be Out for a Bit

Buccaneers fan’s hearts dropped when they saw all-pro tackle Tristan Wirfs on the ground in pain.  There was much speculation after Wirfs was carted off the field, with some fearing the worst. Luckily, no one will have to prepare for a season without Wirfs, as he was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and is expected to be out for only a few weeks. The already hobbled Buccaneers offensive line will very much feel the loss of Wirfs, who had become the team’s most consistent lineman. Without him, it looks like the already struggling Bucs offense will struggle even more to move the ball down the field. This could cause big problems for  the Buccaneers going forward, as the team will now have to win out in order to make it into the playoffs.

Rachaad White is the Real Deal

Leonard Fournette was ruled out, but the rookie Rachaad White was ready to step up to the role. White was able to put up 109 total yards in his start and was very impressive in the showing. White showed that he has the ability to carry the load and will be someone for Buccaneer fans to look forward to in the future. The rookie is proving that he is a star in the making and will be someone to look out for on the Buccaneers for years to come. Overall, the Bucs loss to the Browns was disappointing but not unexpected after their poor performance this season. The team will have to do everything they can to win their next few games and make it into the playoffs. After that, maybe they can get back to being a playoff contender.
