The Indiana Pacers continue their west coast road trip as they face off with the Sacramento Kings tonight. Tip-off is scheduled for 10pm EST from the Golden One Center in Northern California.
Both the Kings and Pacers have surprised many around the NBA this season with their strong starts. Sacramento comes into this matchup with a record of 10-9 but have lost their last three games. Indiana comes into the game with a record of 12-8 while winning seven of their last ten games.
Last season, the two teams made a trade involving Tyrese Haliburton and Domantas Sabonis and it’s fair to say that it has worked out for both franchises. Sabonis is helping the Kings try to reach the playoffs for the first time in forver while Haliburton is jumpstarting the rebuild in Indiana.
How Indiana can win: The Pacers were thought of as a rebuilding team but they have been anything but that. They have come to play this season and look like a team that could compete until the end of the year. They shoot the ball effectively and play good enough defense to win games. They shouldn’t be taken lightly at all and have proven this through 20 games already.
Haliburton leads them, averaging 19.9 points and 11.3 assists per game. These are impressive numbers for this young player and he is showing that he can be the guy for Indiana to build around. Going up against his former team may give him some extra motivation so I expect another strong outing for him.
How Sacramento can win: The Kings under new coach Mike Brown have looked great. They are competing and showing that maybe this could be the season that the long playoff drought ends. They are a gritty team that fights for every possession and makes life tough on opponents.
Sabonis has had a great year so far, averaging 16.9 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Kings. He is a presence for them and allows guard De’Aaron Fox to do his thing on the perimeter. They make for a nice duo and one that can score at will.
Prediction: Indiana Pacers 118, Sacramento Kings 114
I like the Pacers to keep it rolling and earn another win here. Indiana seems like the real deal and I have them grabbing another road win tonight.
