It is now Week 12, so it is time to test my fantasy football luck with more bold predictions. There are a lot of players I think can boom or bust this week that might be crazier than most would suggest, but I listed my top three for you here.
1. Rachaad White Will Finish As A Top 10 Running Back
Rachaad White has truly been coming along as of late. His touches and snap count have increased through each game, with a season high of 63% of snaps in Week 10. Back in action in Week 12, White finally gets the role as the workhorse, with Leonard Fournette out from a hip injury. The opportunity is all lined up for him to explode, including a very favorable matchup against the Cleveland Browns, who allow 5.3 yards per carry. The name of the game will be to run the ball for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with White leading the charge.
I think Rachaad White can and will finish as a top 10 running back, with or without a score. He is going to get at least 20 touches for 100-plus yards. I hope he can get things going in the air too; however, Giovani Bernard will get the bulk of those touches. Based on the situation without Fournette along with the matchup against a struggling Browns run defense, White is in line to explode this week.
2. Alvin Kamara Will Fall Outside The Top 25 Running Backs
I said this in my bold prediction on why I think the New Orleans Saints will beat the San Francisco 49ers, but I’ll say it again. This really feels like a Taysom Hill takeover game for me. I think he vultures key touches from Kamara, including in the red zone, and pisses off fantasy owners. Kamara will not be able to get anything going against the 49ers, especially on the ground, where he has already struggled. In his last four games, he has averaged less than 3.4 yards per carry.
The only way Kamara can make up against this defense is in the air or with a score. If he can get some big catches, then we can see him sneak up the rankings. But I don’t like relying on a touchdown, especially for a guy who only has three touchdowns on the year, all in just one game. This is another bad situation for a running back who has truly struggled leading up to this game.
3. Michael Pittman Jr. Will Finish As A Top Five Wide Receiver
Michael Pittman Jr. has had his surges this season, but for the most part, his 2022 campaign has been tough to watch. He has finished as a top five wide receiver twice this season, but his next highest after those feats was a 22nd place finish. If there is any week for him to reach those heights again, it will be this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers have been a gold mine for opposing wide receivers, no matter who the player is or his talent and skill level. They allow over 200 yards per game to the position, as well as a league high of 1.4 touchdowns per game. Despite other Indianapolis Colts talent creeping up behind him, Pittman has maintained the target share lead in practically every game. He is the guy you want to rely on this week, especially in a perfect matchup. Matt Ryan should really air it out in this one, and I think he can reach double-digit receptions and a score or two. Pittman is going to boom, and I think he reaches top five wide receiver stardom this week.
