Dallas Mavericks vs Orlando Magic Game Preview 11/9/2022

The Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic are set to square off today from the Amway Center in Florida. Tip-off will now be at 5:30pm EST due to Tropical Storm Nicole.

Dallas and Orlando met earlier this season with the Mavericks taking the game by a score of 114-105. Guard Luka Doncic exploded for 44 in 37 minutes.

The two teams come into this matchup on opposite ends of the spectrum. Dallas holds onto a record of 6-3 while Orlando sits at the bottom of the league at 2-9.

How Dallas can win: Dallas has the second best offensive rating in the league this season and continues to impress. They play high level basketball every time out on the court and it has helped them become a team that nobody wants to face.

Doncic is the early favorite for the MVP award, averaging an astonishing 36 points per game on 52.4 percent shooting. He is also putting in 8.4 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. If he can put on another show, Dallas should easily be able to win this matchup again.

How Orlando can win: While their record shows a bad team, the Magic have been one of the more fun, scrappy teams in the NBA. They are extrememly young but compete on a nightly basis.

If they want any chance of winning this game, they’ll need to do the impossible: slow down Doncic. The Mavericks star has been on a tear this season and will be a major problem for the Magic defense.

However, Orlando has their own star in the making in first overall pick Paolo Banchero. He has averaged 23.5 points per game and 8.3 rebounds a game through 11 games of his career. Orlando may have finally found their guy to lead them in the future.

Prediction: Dallas Mavericks 125 Orlando Magic 112

Dallas has enough to put the Magic away but Orlando will put up a fight. They play hard and will hang around with their own scoring punch. However, I like the Mavericks to get the win.
