25. Oklahoma State Cowboys
24. Oregon State Beavers
23. Cincinnati Bearcats
22. Tulane Green Wave
21. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
20. Florida State Seminoles
19. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
18. Kansas State Wildcats
17. UCF Knights
16. UCLA Bruins
UCLA stumbled against Arizona this weekend all but ending their chances at the College Football Playoff. But they can still have a good season if they can take down their arch rival USC in their next game.
15. Ole Miss Rebels
The Rebels fought hard against Alabama but couldn’t deliver the knockout punch. It has been a rough few weeks for Lane Kiffin and company but they have two very winnable games on the schedule still to ensure they finish the year strong.
14. Washington Huskies
13. North Carolina Tar Heels
12. Penn State Nittany Lions
11. Oregon Ducks
Saturday night was tough for Oregon. With 1:26 left in the game, the Ducks went for it on fourth and one from their own 33 and it backfired in the worst way. Four plays later, Washington took the lead with less than a minute left and just like that, Oregon’s playoff hopes went out the window. Dan Lanning’s decision will be discussed for a long time in Eugene.
10. Clemson Tigers
9. Utah Utes
8. Alabama Crimson Tide
7. LSU Tigers
LSU is the real wildcard when it comes to the playoffs. If LSU were to win the SEC title game, how do you keep the SEC champion out of the playoffs? No team has ever made the playoffs with two losses. Does that streak break in 2022?
6. USC Trojans
USC is an interesting situation as we wind down the season. Should they run the table and win the Pac-12, does the committee dare leave out the Trojans? They have a chance to bolster their resume down the stretch with games against UCLA and Notre Dame to finish the regular season. I believe they are firmly in the mix for that fourth playoff spot come Selection Sunday.
5. Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols took out some aggression on Missouri this weekend after falling to Georgia the week before. Tennessee is still in position to make the playoff even though they won’t be playing for the SEC title. Chaos will need to happen but you just never know.
4. TCU Horned Frogs
TCU remained undefeated Saturday night when they went into Austin and took out the Texas Longhorns. Their defense thoroughly dominated a good Texas offense. They kept Bijan Robinson in a box. Max Duggen and the offense struggled at times but they made enough plays to win the game and at this point in the season, TCU just needs to keep winning and they’re headed to the playoffs.
3. Ohio State Buckeyes
2. Michigan Wolverines
1. Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia punched their ticket to the SEC title game where they will face off against LSU. Unless the Bulldogs slip up somewhere very unexpected, they likely have a playoff berth sealed up.
