The Flames begin a brief east-coast swing on Long Island tonight against the Islanders. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 EST.

After winning five of its first six games, the Flames come into tonight’s game losers of four straight. Newly signed Nazem Kadri leads Calgary in goals so far with six. Kadri also leads the Flames in points with 11. Tyler Toffoli and Rasmus Andersson are tied for second on the team with eight points each. Jacob Markstrom has been about average in eight appearances this season. The 6’6’’ goaltender has a 4-2-1 record with a 2.84 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. The Flames received some bad news on the injury front today as Michael Stone was moved to injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.

New York had won five straight before falling in Detroit last Saturday. The Islanders are led in goals by Anders Lee with six but have nine other scorers with at least three tallies on the year. Brock Nelson leads the Isles in points with 13 and is one of three skaters in double digits. Ilya Sorokin has been the number one goaltender for New York thus far. Sorokin is 5-3-0 with a 2.12 GAA and .933 SV% in nine games this season.

Calgary took both games from New York last season, beating the Islanders 5-2 in both meetings. The projected goaltender matchup for tonight is Markstrom for the Flames and Sorokin for the Isles.
