The Sabres travel to Detroit to take on the home standing Red Wings. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EST.

After a hot start to the season, Buffalo fell into a prolonged losing streak. The Sabres sit in seventh place in the Atlantic Division with a 9-12-1 record. Tage Thompson has been Buffalo’s best player this season registering 14 goals and 28 points this season. He leads the team in both categories. Victor Olofsson, Jeff Skinner and Alex Tuch have all scored double-digit goals this season. Rasmus Dahlin slots in right behind Thompson in the point category with 24. Eric Comrie and Craig Anderson have split starts thus far. Anderson has registered a 2.76 goals against average and a .917 save percentage, while Comrie has a 3.62 GAA and an .887 SV%.

Detroit continues to exceed expectations as the Wings slot into fourth in the Atlantic with an 11-6-4 record. Dylan Larkin and Dominik Kubalik share the team lead in goals with nine in their first 21 games. The pair also find themselves atop the Detroit leaderboard in points with 24 and 22 each. Filip Hronek, David Perron and Lucas Raymond have all notched six goals this season and round out the top five on Detroit’s scoring list. Villie Husso has been great in net this season with a 2.58 GAA, .912 SV% and a 9-3-3 record. Backup Alex Nedeljkovic has been shaky this season. With a 4.01 GAA, .880 SV% and a 2-3-1 record.

The Red Wings swept the Sabres in four games last regular season, but three of those games went to overtime. Buffalo took the first meeting between the sides this season winnig 8-3 at home. The projected starting goaltenders for tonight’s matchup are Anderson for the Sabres and Nedeljkovic for Detroit.
