Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers TNF Game Preview 11/10/2022

By

We have a divisional matchup upon us for this week’s edition of Thursday Night Football. The Atlanta Falcons travel down to Carolina to take on the Panthers.

Both teams come in after suffering a loss last week. The Falcons dropped their game to the Los Angeles Chargers while the Panthers lost to the Cincinnati Bengals. So, both squads would love to make this a get right game.

The two teams met each other two weeks ago in Atlanta with the Falcons prevailing in that matchup. It was a really close contest that saw a penalty at the end of regulation help ultimately decide the winner. Atlanta came out on top in overtime in that matchup but now the scene shifts to Carolina.

The Falcons have relied on their running game this season with the passing offense falling behind, but they’ll need another strong game from quarterback Marcus Mariota if they want to take down Carolina again. He threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 43 yards on the ground. He was one of the driving forces for the Falcons and will be looked upon again.

Carolina seems to be sticking with quarterback PJ Walker for this game despite Baker Mayfield taking over in their last contest. Walker has himself a strong outing against the Falcons last time out, throwing for 317 yards and one touchdown. If he can replicate that performance, then the Panthers will be in good shape.

This game is going to come down to the defenses and who can generate more turnovers. Neither are overly dominant on that end of the ball so whoever steps up, will likely be the winner.

I think we see another close game between these two teams. They know each other well and just faced off a few weeks ago. Despite this game being in Carolina, I can’t trust the Panthers offense to be effective for an entire game. Give me the Falcons to win and earn their fifth win.
