The NBA season is almost upon us! That means it’s time for exciting moments and possibly records to be broken throughout the year. With the season starting so soon, it’s time for predictions. Every season some teams overperform and some underperform. Here are three teams that look to be a bit underrated as we enter the NBA season:

Atlanta Hawks

Nobody is talking about the Hawks in the Eastern Conference. This isn’t to say that they are truly underrated, but they seem to fall behind many others in that department. This is a franchise that reached the Eastern Conference Finals just two seasons ago and has pretty much the same roster. However, they went and added in All-Star guard Dejounte Murray this offseason to pair with star Trae Young. This is the type of move that a team makes when they are serious about trying to compete. The offense should be lethal, but the defense is still a bit of a question mark. They are bad on that end of the floor last season and really didn’t address the issue. Atlanta will be a fun team to watch but the lack of defense may doom them in the end. They land on this list because they could easily be one of the top teams in the East or fighting for a play-in spot.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards are an interesting bunch. They got the commitment (for now) from star guard Bradley Beal and seem ready to go. This isn’t a title contending team but one that could find themselves fighting for a playoff spot. Forward Kyle Kuzma looked free last season and played like it to the tune of his best season as a professional. If he can continue that with a healthy season from Beal, then Washington may have something. They also had a sighting from Kristaps Porzingis towards the end of the season and adding in more time together as a unit could help. There are no major issues with this team, but it just lacks difference makers. Beal is one but who else steps up? They are a team to watch as the year goes on for sure.

Portland Trail Blazers

Anytime you get a player like Damian Lillard back healthy, it is seen as a victory in itself. Having him back in the lineup will be a major plus for this Portland team. Adding in the fact that they brought in some decent players on the edges, makes this an exciting team. Jerami Grant and Gary Payton II will help this roster out both defensively and shooting wise. Portland looks ready to compete in the Western Conference and will be better than many anticipate. A playoff spot seems likely for this team if they can stay healthy. And if Anfernee Simons can take another jump, maybe more.
