The NHL’s youngest franchise opens its second season in Anaheim, California, against the Anaheim Ducks. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:08 p.m. EST.
The Kraken’s inaugural season only netted the franchise 60 points following a fire sale at the trade deadline. Seattle amassed tons of good draft capital that will already be making itself known as Matty Beniers will start his Calder chase centering the first line.
Anaheim limped to the end of the 2021-22 season and finished with 76 points. The Ducks are poised for improvement, headlined by Trevor Zegras and Mason McTavish. Anaheim also brought in key free agents Frank Vatrano, Ryan Strome, and John Klingberg to help them win now in a weaker Western Conference.
Anaheim took two of three games and four of six points from the Kraken last season. Seattle’s only win was 4-3 in December 2021. The Kraken are expected to start Philipp Grubauer in net, while the Ducks turn to its star goaltender John Gibson.
