The Flyers continue their Florida road trip by heading to Sunrise to take on the Panthers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:38 p.m. EST on national television.
The Flyers are off to a shocking 3-0-0 start. Philadelphia won its first two games at home against the Devils and Canucks before coming back last night to defeat the Lightning 3-2 in Tampa. Travis Konecny has the early team lead in goals for the Flyers as he’s potted three in the team’s first three games. Konecny is also tied for the team lead in points with teammates James van Riemsdyk, Tony DeAngelo and Kevin Hayes with four. Carter Hart has been good in his first three starts allowing an average of two goals per game thus far.
The Panthers opened with its first three games all coming away from home. Florida went 2-1-0 in those games defeating the Islanders and Sabres before falling in Boston on Monday. Matthew Tkachuk and Colin White are tied for the team lead in goals and points. Both players have tallied two goals and four total points in the first three games. Both Panther goaltenders have recorded a win on the young season as well.
The Panthers dominated the season series with the Flyers last year, taking all three wins and all six points. The Flyers were able to scratch out a point in the middle game of last year’s series but left the other five points on the table. The projected goaltender matchup tonight is Felix Sandstrom for Philadelphia and Sergie Bobrovsky for Florida.
