The Los Angeles Kings continue their eastern road trip by making a stop in Pittsburgh tonight to face the Penguins. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 EST.
The Kings have turned its opening two losses into three straight road wins. LA has won three-straight one-goal games over the Wild, Red Wings and Predators. Los Angeles is led in scoring by Gabriel Vilardi and Adrian Kempe with four goals each. Vilardi also leads the Kings in points through five games with seven. Both of LA’s goaltenders have struggled a bit this season as Jonathan Quick has a goals against average of 3.73 and Cal Peterson has a GAA of 4.32.
The Penguins are off to a hot 2-0-1 start. Pittsburgh put up six goals in back-to-back games against Arizona and Tampa Bay before losing in overtime in Montreal earlier this week. Evgeni Malkin tallied both Penguin goals in the team’s OT loss and now leads Pittsburgh with three goals. Sidney Crosby is off to a very hot start as the captain has notched six points thus far.
The Kings won both matchups against Pittsburgh last season and have won three straight overall. The expected starting goaltenders tonight are Peterson for Los Angeles and Tristen Jarry for Pittsburgh.
