Fantasy Football Week Eight Starts and Sits

QB Starts

PJ Walker – CAR

Week 7 stats: 177 YDS, 2 TD – 15.08 PPR points

Week 8 matchup: @ ATL

All hell has broken loose in the NFL. Pigs have flown and nothing makes sense anymore. Last week Taylor Heincke defeated Aaron Rodgers, and PJ Walker defeated Tom Brady. Given the current state of the league, nothing makes sense. With a favorable defensive matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Walker could shock the world yet again.

Sam Ehlinger – IND

Week 7 stats: — N/A

Week 8 matchup: vs WAS

No this is not a typo. Sam Ehlinger will make his NFL debut against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, against a secondary that has been vulnerable in fantasy. Ehlinger is a mobile QB who has quietly been very good for the Colts in preseason. Is it normally wise to start a sixth round quarterback in their first NFL game? No, but this season has proven that logic means nothing, and I’ve got a good feeling about this young quarterback. The Colts boast a solid team, and Ehlinger could be a diamond in the rough. In a home matchup against an inferior roster, Ehlinger could quietly sneak up on folks in fantasy.

Tua Tagovailoa – MIA

Week 7 stats: 281 YDS, 1 TD – 17.94 PPR points

Week 8 matchup: @ DET

Tua is finally back after an extended absence due to that scary concussion he suffered on Thursday Night Football in week four. With a matchup against the struggling Lions, consider this a great opportunity for Tagovailoa to get back in rhythm with his elite wide receiver weapons. The Dolphins offense looked elite early in the year, and they could get back to form against the Lions.

QB Sits

BYE WEEKS: Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert,

Trevor Lawrence – JAX

Week 7 stats: 310 YDS,  1 RUSH TD – 18.7 PPR points

Week 8 matchup: vs DEN

Trevor Lawrence has thrived in the past two weeks, benefiting greatly from rushing touchdowns. However, this week he gets a tough defensive matchup with the Denver Broncos in London. Lawrence has been inconsistent in fantasy, and I find it difficult to trust him this week.

Kirk Cousins – MIN

Week 7 stats: 175 YDS, 2 TD – 16.5 PPR points

Week 8 matchup: vs AZ

The Cardinals defense has been surprisingly effective in the last two weeks, harassing quarterbacks like Geno Smith, and Andy Dalton, and holding the high flying Eagles to 20 points. This week, they get a matchup with the ever unpredictable Kirk Cousins and the 5-1 Vikings. The Vikings sport an electric offense, but they certainly have flaws you wouldn’t expect of a 5-1 team. They are due for a loss, and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has shown an uncanny ability to make opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable in recent weeks.

Jared Goff – DET

Week 7 stats: 228 YDS, 2 INT, 2 FUM – 1.52 PPR points

Week 8 matchup: vs MIA

Jared Goff has reverted to his normal self, looking ghastly in his last two outings. Granted, those games have come against formidable defensive opponents, but the Dolphins are not as bad defensively as they might appear. They have allowed the fifth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, but their secondary gets a solid chance to get right this week against the Lions.
