The Detroit Red Wings head to the United Center to take on the Chicago Blackhawks in a matchup between two of the Original Six teams.
Detroit comes into this matchup 2-0-1 on the season so far and have looked impressive early on. The Blackhawks are 1-2 on the new year and would love to pill up some early victories to help them make up ground in a strong Central Division.
The offense for the Red Wings has been fun to watch but it’s their defense that has really led the way. Their goaltenders are allowing only 2.33 goals per game. The defense has been creating turnovers in the defensive zone and has allowed Detroit to get up the ice quickly for shot attempts.
For Chicago, the offense has struggled a bit and going up against a tough defense in the Red Wings won’t be easy. They will need to rely on their veteran players such as Patrick Kane and Johnathan Toews if they want to take this game tonight.
I see this being a lower scoring contest. With that, I think Chicago does enough to take this game by a score of 2-1 and earns a needed home win here.
