Dallas Stars vs Toronto Maple Leafs Game Preview 10/20/2022

By

The Stars head north of the border to Toronto for a battle with the Maple Leafs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EST.

Dallas is off to an unexpectedly hot start at 3-0-0. Mason Marchment is the early leader for the Stars in the goal department with three in as many games. Marchment is also tied for the team lead in points with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson. The three players have five points each. Number one goaltender Jake Oettinger has been fantastic this season with a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .966.

Toronto has split its first four games of the season with wins against the Capitals and Senators and losses against the Canadiens and Coyotes. The Leafs have spread the scoring throughout the lineup and only have one player with multiple goals. That player is William Nylander who has three. Toronto’s captain, John Tavares, leads the team in points with five. The Leafs’ starting goaltender Matt Murray has already hit injured reserve and has forced the team to turn to Ilya Samsonov and Erik Kallgren.

Toronto took both matchups last season, but Dallas was able to steal a point losing in overtime in the second meeting between these two teams. Tonight’s expected goaltender matchup is Scott Wedgewood for the Stars and Samsonov for the Maple Leafs.
