The new-look Columbus Blue Jackets head to Raleigh, North Carolina, to face the Carolina Hurricanes with puck drop scheduled for 7:08 p.m. EST.
The Hurricanes are coming off a first-place Metropolitan Division finish, where it tallied an impressive 116 points. Carolina will welcome some new faces to its lineup, as newest additions Paul Stastny and Brent Burns are set to make their Hurricane debuts tonight. Carolina will be looking to start its season on a winning note after being bounced by the New York Rangers in the second round of last season’s playoffs.
The Blue Jackets had a rough 2021-22, only managing to register 81 points. The Blue Jackets made a splash this offseason signing the biggest name in free agency: Johnny Gaudreau. It will be interesting to see if Columbus has the right balance of star power and depth to contend in a very tough Eastern Conference.
The Hurricanes took three of four meetings between these two teams last season. Those three wins gave Carolina the point’s advantage of 6-2 over Columbus. The expected starting goaltenders for this one are Frederik Andersen for Carolina and Daniil Tarasov for Columbus.
