TE Starts
David Njoku – CLE
Week 3 stats: 9 REC, 10 TAR, 89 YDS, 1 TD – 23.9 PPR points
Week 4 matchup: @ ATL
After two very quiet showings in the first two games of the season, David Njoku had a career game in week three, dicing up Steelers linebackers en route to a career high nine receptions. With the tight end position flailing through three weeks, Njoku should be a target for fantasy managers on the waiver wire, and potentially make his way into starting lineups.
Zach Ertz – AZ
Week 3 stats: 6 REC, 10 TAR, 45 YDS – 10.5 PPR points
Week 4 matchup: @ CAR
Despite a bad game from Ertz in which he dropped multiple passes, including a touchdown, he still managed to see a big role in the offense, with 10 targets. He saw a lot of coverage from Jalen Ramsey, a testament to his importance as Kyler Murray’s safety blanket. With the Cardinals receiving core still banged up, Ertz should bounce back next week against the Panthers. The former Pro Bowler is usually much more reliable, especially when he is not being covered by the best corner in the game.
Gerald Everett – LAC
Week 3 stats: 2 REC, 6 TAR, 25 YDS – 4.5 PPR points
Week 4 matchup: @ HOU
Everett was the victim of a poor showing from the Chargers whole offense in week 3, as they shockingly suffered a blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he still managed 6 targets, and is the TE1 in this offense. The Chargers figure to be a top tier offense in the league this season, and as Herbert gets healthier their weapons should be viable options for fantasy.
TE Sits
Tyler Higbee – LAR
Week 3 stats: 4 REC, 4 TAR – 61 YDS
Week 4 matchup: @ SF
Higbee has been a solid starter for fantasy purposes this year, but his luck is running out. His targets have gone down in each game this season, and this week he will matchup with the 49ers talented linebacker core. A big gain on a screen pass saved his fantasy outing in week three, but do not expect him to be so fortunate in week four. Managers should consider trading him while his value is high.
Tyler Conklin – NYJ
Week 3 stats: 8 REC, 8 TAR, 84 YDS – 16.4 PPR points
Week 4 matchup: @ PIT
Conklin has been surprisingly good for the Jets, who signed CJ Uzomah from the Bengals to be their starter in the offseason. He has received at least seven targets in each game this year, and clearly has a rapport with QB Joe Flacco. However, with Zach Wilson likely to return from injury, fantasy managers would be wise to wait and see if that chemistry transfers from Flacco to Wilson.
Dawson Knox – BUF
Week 3 stats: 4 REC, 4 TAR, 25 YDS – 6.5 PPR points
Week 4 matchup: @ BAL
Dawson Knox has been a disappointment in fantasy this year, and has always been far too touchdown reliant to be trusted in fantasy. Despite the dry TE market, Knox should not be expected to do very much for fantasy managers, yet he is still owned in over 79% of ESPN leagues. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable dropping him.
