Jameis Winston will lead the Saints to the NFC Championship game this season.
The New Orleans Saints have one of the best rosters on paper and will be a top two NFC team at the conclusion of the regular season. Jameis Winston is continuing to grow in his leadership traits and will benefit from veterans Jarvis Landry and Tyrann Matheiu. Winston has been the first athlete to the practice field during training camp as he looks to earn the respect and trust of the entire team. Winston has all the intangibles to be a top tier quarterback, but has yet to put it all together. Sitting behind future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees and future Hall of Fame coach Sean Payton will pay dividends for Winston as he will make a breakthrough this season into the top 13 range for quarterbacks.

The Saints are still waiting to hear about disciplinary actions handed down to Alvin Kamara as he is facing both a misdemeanor and felony charge from an incident where he along with several other men are being accused of injuring someone during Pro Bowl weekend. As the Saints wait for a ruling on Kamara, fans should expect Mark Ingram III to get first team reps at running back. Winston will be working with one of the top wide receiver rooms in football, as the Saints have elite level talent at that position. Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, Jarvis Landry, and Marquez Callaway are all playmakers that have the ability to beat defenders in a variety of ways. The offensive line should be able to hold off the pass rush long enough for Winston to go through his progressions to make the correct read. Rookie offensive lineman Trevor Penning has had a mean streak through camp thus far and will look to bring that intensity into the season.

Defensively, New Orleans ranked seventh in total defense just a season ago. The biggest defensive loss came in the secondary with Marcus Williams going to Baltimore, but Mathieu will fill the hole just fine. The Saints have a great chance to win double digit games next season if everyone stays healthy due to the amount of talent they have on both sides of the ball. Coach Dennis Allen will need to motivate the team and get them playing for one another to discover what the ceiling for this Saints team is. New Orleans could be in the Super Bowl if they stay healthy and Winston picks up where he left off last year. Their week two game against Tampa Bay will be a key matchup to help determine if the Saints are a serious playoff caliber football team.
