UFC On ABC 3: Ortega vs Rodriguez, is another stacked Fight Night the UFC matchmakers have put together and here I will give my insight on who wins each of these fights:

Fight One: Jessica Penne (14-5) vs Emily Ducote (11-6)

Winner: Jessica Penne by Decision

To start the card we have a matchup between Jessica Penne and Emily Ducote in the Women’s Strawweight division. Penne will be able to win this fight using her grappling and clinch advantage to evade Ducote’s power and rack up control time. With Penne being a veteran of the UFC and Ducote making her debut, I find it smarter to bet on the experience and grappling than the one-shot power that Ducote might be able to land.

Fight Two: Dwight Grant (11-5) vs Dustin Stoltzfus (13-4)

Winner: Dwight Grant by KO/TKO

Next, in the Middleweight division, Dwight Grant takes on Dustin Stolzfus as both men look for a bounceback win after losing multiple fights in a row. When doing research I came across that Stolzfus is becoming a popular underdog pick, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen. Stolzfus’s path to victory is getting Grant to the ground because Grant has the speed and knockout power to finish him on the feet, but Grant’s strength should allow him to keep this fight standing and get a Knockout win.

Fight Three: Dustin Jacoby (17-5-1) vs Da Un Jung (15-2-1)

Winner: Da Un Jung by KO/TKO

In the Light Heavyweight division, we have a matchup where I am fairly confident the underdog will come out on top. After watching both of these men’s last fights, even though they both were victorious, the way they won was vastly different. Jacoby got pieced apart in the first round by Michal Oleksjczuk, while going on to knock him down in the second round, before winning a sluggish round three. On the other hand in Jung’s matchup against Kennedy Nzechukwu, he looked crisp on all his strikes before putting him to sleep late in round one with powerful elbow strikes. If Jung takes the same approach he should be able to catch Jacoby with some shots to wear him down before setting up his big knockout blow.

Fight Four: Bill Algeo (15-6) vs Herbert Burns (11-3)

Winner: Herbert Burns by Submission

Moving on to the Featherweight division we get a matchup between Bill Algeo and the always dangerous Herbert Burns. Another underdog I am fairly confident will win this Saturday is Herbert Burns. Burns doesn’t have to be worried about the finishing ability of Algeo so he’ll be able to fight more aggressively and hopefully get the fight to the ground where he feels the most comfortable. Once he gets the fight to the ground he should be able to lock in a submission and get back on track after losing his last fight.

Fight Five: Ricky Simón (19-3) vs Jack Shore (16-0)

Winner: Jack Shore by Decision

In this Bantamweight fight, we are treated to a potential Fight of the Night winner, which proves how stacked this card is with this fight being so early. Jack Shore has been impressive since entering, extending his undefeated record to 16-0. I believe that Shore holds the slight striking advantage but the deciding factor should be his strength advantage. Whether it be Shore or Simon who takes this fight to the ground, whenever it ends up there I’d be willing to bet that Shore wins the battle position and scores more points on the ground to come up with a decision victory.

Fight Six: Punahele Soriano (8-2) vs Dalcha Lungiambula (11-4)

Winner: Punahele Soriano by KO/TKO

In the featured preliminary bout of this Saturday’s fight night, two Middleweights are looking to get back to their winning ways after losing their last two fights. More than likely I see this being a standup affair unless Dalcha can get Soriano, which would be the smartest thing for him to do because the longer stands with Soriano the more likely he is to get knocked out, which is exactly what I believe is going to happen. Soriano should be able to use his striking ability to keep Dalcha at bay before landing the knockout strike needed to get the victory.
